Making a House a Home

Sponsored Post

Preparing to move is stressful, but it is also such an exciting time. As well as renovations, there is going to be plenty of general redecorating to look forward to, and one of the things I’m most excited about is making our new house into our home, after renting for almost four years.

Add Artwork

One of the easiest ways to add personality and character to a room, in my opinion, is to add some art work. Canvas art prints from Fine Art America are an easy and affordable way to add some artwork to your new home. I love that you can pick from existing prints by artists and photographers, or choose to upload your own photos to display. The website has a huge selection of prints to choose from, broken down into different sections for ease, including Celebrity Canvas Prints and Cool Canvas Prints. I love the idea of creating a canvas collection – it makes a great focal point for a room.

Creative Lighting

I am a huge fan of warm, soft focus lighting at the moment. I can’t wait to get a little creative with the lighting in our new house, making things a little cosier and welcoming. I am especially interested in the use of fairy lights and light up letters to decorate and add something a little different.

Add a Pop of Colour

Having lived in a rented property for the last few years, I am more than ready to get creative with some colours, having had white/cream walls until now. I love the idea of pops of colour to brighten up a room and add some character. A feature wall is a great way to add colour without having to paint the entire room, or just picking some bright soft furnishings can make all the difference.

Add Rugs, Throws and Cushions

I must admit, I’m really excited to be getting new sofas as soon as we can afford to, but in the meantime I’m looking at getting some rugs, throws and cushions to add our own touch to the new place. I love how comfy and cosy soft furnishings can make a room, and I am really looking forward to putting our stamp on the place.

I know that the next few months are going to be a challenge, moving is a stressful time, but I’m really excited to make the new house a proper home.

This is a sponsored post, however all words are my own.
