Foodie Friday – Festive Meal Ideas Between Christmas & New Year

It’s the time of year where you just can’t face yet another meal based around leftover turkey and are fed up of grazing on chocolate, cheese and crisps. Rather than reaching for the snacks again or resorting to yet another turkey sandwich for dinner tonight, why not put together one of the following festive meal ideas for between Christmas and New Year? There’s a mixture of ideas with varying levels of difficulty. Hopefully you will find something to tempt you.

Duck with Roast Potatoes

A roast dinner with a twist. Duck makes a nice change from turkey or beef and is nice and simple to put together. Serve with leftover vegetables to save time and money.

Beef Stew and Dumplings

This is one for the slow cooker. So easy to prepare and it will make the house smell incredible! Perfect for those cold winter evenings in front of the TV watching a movie.

Homemade Ham Pies

A bit more effort for this one, but so worth it. You can change the filling to suit your tastes and you could even use the leftover turkey for this one. Serve with mashed potatoes and peas and plenty of gravy for a filling dinner.

Caramelised Onion Tart

Suitable for vegetarians, this is perfect for those days when you are at home chilling out and able to make something during the day that can then be chucked in the oven in the evening ready for a tasty dinner.

Bacon Wrapped Pork Loin

Something a little fancier, brilliant for those days you have guests over. Plus it’s kind of like a giant pig in blanket so it’s a definite win for me (I am not quite ready to give them up just yet)!

Are there any meals you like to eat over the festive break? I would love to hear more suggestions in the comments!
