As a mum of three, I can sometimes get so caught up in buying clothes for the kids that I push my own needs aside.
When it does come to clothing for me, I need to find items which are affordable and will stand the test of time, whilst still being stylish – not much to ask for then.
Luckily, Matalan tick all the boxes when it comes to their holiday shop – a selection of holiday essentials at reasonable prices, without compromising on style.
In preparation for our honeymoon, which we are going on today, I was sent some lovely items from the range. The pieces I’ve gone for are what I consider essentials for a holiday in the sun, and I’m so pleased to have them in my suitcase for our trip to Mexico.
The Maxi Dress
When I saw this maxi dress on the Matalan website, I knew it would be perfect for a trip to Mexico.
It’s loose and flowing, perfect for covering up after indulging on the all inclusive all week, and it’s made from soft stretch viscose, so it’s nice and light for when the temperature spikes.
I can also see myself living in this over summer, it’s the perfect casual day dress, which could be dressed up for nighttime with a blazer
The Aztec Bikini
I love how bright and colourful the print is, and I think it will look brilliant against a tan. The halterneck, bandeau style is flattering on me, as I have a small chest.
The Jewelled Sandals
These sandals are so comfortable and, with the jewelled strap detail, they will be perfect for wearing day or night whilst on holiday. They’ll also make a nice change from wearing flip flops all day.
The Beach Bag
I plan to spend the majority of our trip down by the pool, with a good book and a cocktail in my hand.
A beach bag is a must for transporting my essentials down from our hotel room to the pool each day, but I had been struggling to find one that I liked.
This one is nice and sturdy, and is big enough to fit in both mine and Ed’s suncreen, books and towels.
The Novelty Beach Towel
Talking of towels, Matalan have a huge variety of designs available, including some brilliant novelty prints.
I love their pineapple and pug designs, but in the end I went for something girly, with the cacti design as a nod to our destination.
This towel even comes with its own little bag too, how practical is that?
I love getting dressed up in the evening, especially whilst I’m away on holiday, and packing heels is essential. After a few drinks, it can become tricky to navigate in heels, so these wedges are a good idea.
The gold will look so nice against a tan as well!
As I’ve mentioned, our days will mainly be spent by the pool in a bikini, but when we get up to go for lunch, or on the days we decide to actually explore a little further than our resort, I want to have clothes that I can just chuck on and not worry about.
A playsuit is the perfect outfit for a beach holiday, and I love this design – the purple and pink Aztec print is really pretty, and the cutout back is gorgeous (although I need to watch out for odd tan lines!).
The Tassel Kaftan
The humble kaftan – perfect for covering up on the walk to and from the pool, and for keeping cool in the midday sun.
I really like this navy one. The neon pink Pom Poms and coral tassels are super cute, and the material is nice and light. I went for a Small, and the fit is just right.
The Hand Luggae Hold-all
Last, but not least, I’d been looking everywhere for a pretty bag to carry my hand luggage in on the plane.
This floral hold-all is pretty and practical, being able to fit all of my bits and pieces for our long-haul flight to Mexico, whilst not being too bulky.
The handles make it nice and easy to carry through the airport too.
I’m really pleased with all the items from Matalan. The sizing is spot on, and all the pieces fit me perfectly. I especially love the wedges, the Aztec bikini and the hold-all and I’m so excited to be heading off to Mexico today with these beach holiday staples in my luggage!
If you are going away, whether abroad or for a staycation here in the UK, Matalan has you covered with their holiday shop.
