My 27th Birthday

So as my birthday is 2nd May, it always falls around the bank holiday weekend, which means that I always tend to make it last a few days, rather than just the one. I’m quite selfless throughout the year and prefer spending any money I have on the kids than myself, so it’s nice to make a change for my birthday and to be a little spoilt.

For the past two years, Ed has had his martial arts camp the same weekend as my celebrations, which totally sucks, but it is what it is. I organised plans for this year around the fact he wasn’t going to be around, and that I would be working Saturday until mid afternoon.

The celebrations started off straight from work on Saturday when I visited my favourite beauty salon Hi-Therapies in Charminster for some much needed pampering. I had my eyebrows threaded, followed by a manicure and pedicure with Shellac. I went for a bright summery pink shade and love it.

Afterwards I had time to get myself glammed up for my birthday meal at Banana Wharf on Poole Quay. It’s a special place for me as it’s where Ed proposed last summer. I found my old hair extensions and had a little play around with them before opting to keep myself a little more natural with my hair (I kept the fake lashes on though).

At the meal, Ed turned up and totally surprised me as I thought I wouldn’t see him until Monday. He had borrowed a car and driven all the way back from Southampton for the night so he could be there. I always have the same food and didn’t change from tradition. The fajitas were amazing as usual but so filling! I didn’t even manage a dessert but had some birthday cake.

On Sunday I had a bit of a lie in and spent the rest of the day shopping with my mum, spending some birthday money, and having a yummy M&S picnic lunch. We also picked up lots of food for my birthday tea that evening. I had another birthday cake with the tea, a big chocolate one from sainsburys, which has become a bit of a tradition with our family.

That evening I stayed at my mum’s and watched a rom com with her and my sister whilst snacking on strawberries and marshmallows dipped in chocolate and putting on face masks.

On my actual birthday I managed a little lie in before having a very greedy breakfast of sausage and bacon sandwiches followed by crumpets covered in chocolate spread – yum!!  I spent the day lazing around watching films, opening presents and reading one of my new books – The Unmumsy Mum- I love it, laugh out loud funny!

When Ed came home, we went for a non-alcoholic cocktail at our favourite bar Eden and looked around their venue for our UK wedding reception next November. It’s perfect for us!

My mum babysat in the evening so we could go to the cinema (we watched Friend Request which was actually pretty good and fairly scary too) and a meal in Frankie & Bennys.

I finished off my birthday weekend with presents from Ed, chocolate and Game of Thrones on TV. It may have been yet another sober birthday (can’t believe I’ve managed to be pregnant for 3 birthdays!) but it was pretty good regardless!
