Moving house can be a turmoil of emotions. The long lead up really got to me with this move and I felt a little anticlimactic once we were finally in the house. To try and make the house feel more like a home, I have spent the past month adding the gadgets and soft furnishings that help put our stamp on the house, as well as helping to make everyday life run more smoothly for us a family of five. Read on to see what our new home must-haves for 2025 are.
orbi 870 Series

I am not sure how we coped before the Orbi came into our lives. This house is bigger than our old one and, with our eldest living in the converted loft and loving his gaming computer, it is really useful for us to have an extender for the wifi so that everybody can keep using it without issues, no matter what we are all getting on with at any one time. This model, the Orbi 870 Series Tri-Band WiFi 7 has two satellites, and the router which connects alongside your existing main WiFi router. It covers up to 7,500 sq ft, and has a massively impressive speed, allowing you to game, stream, video call all at once (using up to 150 devices). It was simple to set up and the app is really convenient to use as well. I am seriously impressed and recommend to anybody who feels like their wifi is a little stretched currently!

Slushie Fusion Frozen Drinks Maker

This Slushie Fusion Frozen Drinks Maker was a huge hit at our house warming party recently (we made frozen strawberry daiquiris – yum!) and I know it is going to be really useful to have at home with teens who love milkshakes and slushes. It is simple to set up, easy to use, holds a generous 2.6 litre of liquids, and is economical when you consider the savings from not needing to buy drinks ready made from elsewhere. I highly recommend!

Dishwasher Cleaner

I know, I know, it’s not the coolest of things to talk about, but this dishwasher cleaner is really useful for keeping your appliance in tip top condition. It deep cleans, getting rid of food scraps and limescale, and leaves the dishwasher smelling amazing! We survived 5 years without a dishwasher, so it really is one of our favourite things in the new house, cutting so much time and arguments out over doing the washing up by hand!

Hollywood Mirror

If you have a teen girl in the house, I really recommend this Hollywood Mirror, which not only looks cute on a dressing table and works as a mirror when they start wearing makeup and doing skincare, but it also has the technology for streaming to social media for GRWM style content or just taking a great selfie.

Luxury Hotel Pillows

These Luxury Hotel Pillows are incredible for a good night’s sleep! Who doesn’t come back from a stay in a hotel and wish their bed was just as comfy? These pillows are made out of Bamboo Microfibre, which means they are suitable for those with allergies, without compromising on comfort and that luxury feel. Plus, they are totally affordable as well. – win, win!

Sofa Bed Duvet Sets

We made the decision when we were kitting the children’s rooms out with new furniture during the move, that we wanted to get sofa beds to allow for us to have guests stay over occasionally, without the need for an extra bedroom. We have a double and single sofa bed in each of the boys’ rooms now, and these affordable duvet sets from Terrys are brilliant for making the kids feel like they are still in their own individual beds when they need to share a room on occasion. I love that the dinosaur bedding is glow in the dark too -such a novelty that I know Benjamin will love!

Giant Beanbag

Who doesn’t love an oversized bean bag? We have opted to have this one from Great Bean Bags in our bedroom, as it is brilliant for family film nights when the kids all pile in and watch something on our overhead projector, but I’m thinking about adding more to the kids rooms, as they are also brilliant for when they have friends over, as somewhere to sit. This one is super soft and super comfy – plus they’re handmade in England.

Gardening Tools from Haskins

Ed and I are not great at gardening, however my mum is and is helping us to get the kids more involved. I have recently collaborated with Haskins Garden Centres and was gifted a lovely selection of products for our new garden. This My First Greenhouse has been a big hit with our youngest, and we are looking forward to working on the garden as a project all together.

What are your must-haves when it comes to making a new house a home? Are there any cool gadgets we need to add to our house to make life easier for our family?
This post features products gifted to me, however all words and images are my own.
