Can we just take a moment to appreciate that January, officially the longest and generally the hardest of all the months, has finally drawn to a close? Jokes aside, January has always been a bit of a stressful time for me as I suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and I struggle more with my mental health during the shorter days, and when the weather is grey and miserable as it so often is during winter. To combat this, I really try and push myself to head outside for plenty of walks, and this year has been no different. To brighten up my walks, and to add a pop of colour to my winter wardrobe, Cotton Traders invited me to choose a few new pieces from their collection, adding an element of fun to our weekend winter adventures.

I tend to wear a lot of black and white during the working week, so at the weekend, I try and go for brighter hues, and Cotton Traders certainly deliver when it comes to bright, colourful pieces. I am obsessed with how comfortable and easy to wear these long sleeved base layer tops are. I have them in burgundy and rosewood red and have been wearing them on rotation ever since I got them, they are so versatile, but also great to keep warm on our walks, whilst also providing that splash of colour.

To keep me extra toasty when those temperatures drop closer to zero, I opted for the Perfect Pointelle Jumper in Amethyst, which goes really well with the tees and is another really easy to wear item.

There are so many beautiful locations where we live in Dorset – we have stunning areas right on our doorstep to explore, which I am so grateful for. Recently we headed to Chapman’s Pool, which is around 40 minutes by car to get to and is well worth the drive. Being right on the cliff edge, it can be extra chilly so I was so glad to have on my waterproof fleece lined trousers, which come in various leg lengths and sizes for men and women and have a thermal fleecey lining and are windproof as well as water resistant, keeping me warm and dry even in the worst of winter conditions. I love how comfortable they are to wear, honestly they are my new favourite thing!

Finishing off the look, and the most important part of my winter walk wardrobe are the HydroGuard walking boots which are unisex and have a watertight membrane, which provides waterproof-breathable properties which are totally unique, allowing sweat to escape whilst keeping water out of the boot.

The fastenings are really secure and I completely forget I am wearing them as they are so comfortable, unlike other walking boots I have tried before. With mud, frost and puddles to manoeuvre on our walks, these hardy waterproof boots are nothing short of incredible – I have never felt so good after a walk along the coast or in the forest. I couldn’t be without them now and 100% recommend them to anybody looking for some good walking boots.

Winter can be a difficult time for many, but I have been enjoying raising my spirits with plenty of time out in nature, heading out on adventures at the weekends in my Cotton Traders winter wardrobe staples and HydroGuard walking boots.
