Press Visit

A few weeks ago I was invited along to try out the new Behind the Scenes VIP experience at SEALIFE Weymouth and it was so much fun I simply had to share. The experience is an optional add-on to what is already an action packed day out. With so much to see and do, it is definitely something you want to arrive in the morning for, to fully make use of your time in the park. When you arrive you are given some activity sheets to fill out as you go around, as well as being told when feeding times are. As we were booked on to the VIP experience, we were also given some guidance on when to arrive and some ground rules (no photography or video in the middle section of the walk-through experience, to keep things interesting for others).

With some time before our Behind the Scenes tour began, we walked around the rest of the park, getting to know some of the fantastic sea creatures on display. The boys were in their element exploring and getting some hands on experiences with starfish along the way. We had to steer them away from the splash park until after our tour, but I would recommend bringing along swim stuff and/or a change of clothes for anybody wanting to go in there – so much fun but so wet!

It was time for our tour, and we met out guide at the entrance to the Behind the Scenes VIP Experience building. The tour group was intimate, only us and one other family of three, which was really nice and made it feel very one on one, with lots of time to ask questions of our tour guide. I won’t go into too much detail, as I don’t want to spoil the surprise, but I would definitely recommend a visit if you have a child or children interested in sea creatures. My two children absolutely loved hearing about the animals at the centre and getting to see some parts of the park that they hadn’t seen before. It was really interesting for us as adults too, and I would say it is 100% not just for children, I even got myself one of the certificates at the end of the tour!

If you are looking for a fun day out this summer, I recommend a visit to SEALIFE Weymouth, which is located right along the seafront, with a large car park on-site and plenty of other activities within walking distance if you are staying in the area. The Behind the Scenes tour is more of a special occasion activity, in my opinion, the perfect end of summer/back to school treat, or a birthday celebration with friends or family. You need to book the experience in advance, this can be done on the website and the prices include entry to the main park, as well as the 50 minute private tour.

We were gifted a family Behind the Scenes pass in exchange for coverage on social media. I wrote this post to share the experience as we loved it, I was under no obligation to post, all words and images are my own.
