Food & Fitness Friday – Taco Bell Poole VIP Launch

Ed and I are huge fans of Mexican food. When it comes to eating out, it’s generally a battle inside my head whether to pick Indian or Mexican, and lately Mexican has been winning.

I’m a big fan of Chiquitos, and I’m waiting with baited breath for the new Las Iguanas to be finished being built at the BH2 Leisure complex in Bournemouth but I actually didn’t realise that Taco Bell had made its way across the pond to England until I heard that one was opening in Poole high street this week. When I received the invite to the VIP press launch I may have done a little squeal.

Ed was gutted that he wouldn’t be able to make it due to prior commitments but it did mean that I was able to catch up with my lovely work friend Christina for the evening. Neither of us had actually tried a taco before, despite both being big Mexican food fans, so we were very excited to try them!

Taco Bell offers a more relaxed, fast food style atmosphere than other chain Mexican restaurants, which means less time between picking your food and getting it in your belly – always a good thing!

The Poole branch is located conveniently right on the high street, just a few minutes walk away from the bus and train station and from the beautiful quayside, which is brilliant for me as my nan lives there, so I can see us picking up a taco or two next time we’re over to visit.

The launch event itself was fantastic. I am a sucker for a photo booth so I loved their selfie station themed for the event.

As well as a huge menu selection of tasty Mexican dishes, Taco Bell also offer both virgin and alcoholic frozen margaritas and daiquiris, (my two favourite cocktails) and, having sampled them, I would highly recommend the strawberry variety (the lemon was a little bitter for my taste).

During the course of the evening I was fortunate enough to sample nachos, fully loaded fries, mexican chicken tacos, pulled pork quesadilla, a crunch wrap and beef burritos (yes, I was totally stuffed by the end of the night).

My favourite was the chicken taco – delicious, although everything I tasted was pretty damn good! My top tip though is to load up on the serviettes and maybe avoid going for a first date as things got a little messy!

The place is full of charging stations for plugs and USB ports which, as a blogger, is excellent!

At the end of the night we were treated to churros with chocolate dipping sauce and the very moreish chocodillas.

By this point I was sure I would burst from all the delicious food & drink and I headed home with my food baby and the brilliant event goody bag which my children raided as soon as they saw it.

Taco Bell in Poole officially opened on Wednesday 10th May. It’s definitely worth a visit – a huge selection of tasty dishes to choose from, alcoholic slush puppies, beers,  delicious desserts and all at great value for money (I was especially impressed that the kids meal deal is just £3 and includes a main, side and drink).

I was invited to the press launch for Taco Bell Poole along with other local bloggers including my friend Kirsty, all opinions and photos are our own.
