I don’t know about you but around this time of year I start craving a sunny holiday. I think it’s something about the shorter days and darker nights, the lack of vitamin D from the sun, that has me running to book Cheap Flights from Bournemouth Airport | Jet2.com. Luckily for me, the local airport is only ten minutes away from our house by car and there are so many Holidays from Bournemouth Airport | Jet2holidays. I have been researching where we should book a holiday for next summer with the kids (and perhaps a cheeky romantic break just for us as well).

In the meantime, I was invited along to an event with Jet2 at a local gin distillery, which was so much fun! It was great to catch up with lots of other local bloggers as well, some who used to be in Bournemouth Bloggers when I first took it over, and some who are current members. It was definitely a reunion of sorts!

I was sat with Rosemary and we made our very own gin, under the careful guidance of Mark from Wyrd Spirits. We were given an in depth lesson on the history of gin and the ingredients that help to provide different elements to gin, before we were set free to make our own concoction. Ours ended up one of the strongest, but I really enjoyed the whole process, especially weighing the ingredients!

We were given some tasters of the Wyrd Spirits selection of gins and a Strawberry vodka which was absolutely amazing (honestly, I need more of it right now). By this point I was definitely ready for some food.

Reading my mind, once our gins were created and bottled up, it was time for a lunch break, with food generously provided by a New Forest company – the spread looked gorgeous with plenty of sandwiches, wraps and other savoury items (the scotch egg in particular was totally yum). We were also provided with a Negroni, which was super strong! I was glad to have soaked up some of the gin from the morning by this point.

Post lunch we were treated to a cocktail making masterclass, where we got the chance to make two cocktails, one a signature Tom Collins and the other, a summer inspired cocktail – the Jet2 Gin Jetsetter, which was absolutely gorgeous and definitely had me dreaming of summer climes…

At the end of the session, we were given a yummy slice of lemon and blueberry loaf cake which was a great way to round off the day.

I would definitely recommend the gin and cocktail making sessions with Wyrd Spirits, if you are local to the New Forest/Ringwood, or are visiting the area on holiday. If you are looking for a trip a little further afield, or craving sunshine like I am, definitely check out flights from Bournemouth airport with Jet2. I have my eye on flights to Greece at the moment, has anybody been?

I was invited along to the event with Jet2 for the purpose of this blog post, however all words and images are my own.
