According to a recent study, 77% of couples find wedding planning to be “incredibly stressful,” and it’s easy to see why. From working to keep guests happy all night long to setting the right budget, there’s a lot that goes into organising a picture-perfect day!

However, proper planning can help to take the stress out of wedding planning so that you’re able to enjoy the process! After all, this is an incredibly exciting time – one that should not be weighed down by stress and anxiety.

Tip #1: Make your budget work for you. In an ideal world, you’d have an unlimited budget to play around with when it comes to planning your wedding. However, your wedding should not be an event that sends you into debt, meaning that budgeting is key. However, there are plenty of ways in which you can make your budget work for you. For example, if you do not have the money set aside to hire a photographer or videographer, you could ask a photo-savvy friend to take photographs instead. You could offer them a small amount of money for this task, or let them count it as their gift to you!

Tip #2: Send out invites as quickly as possible. Sending out your wedding invitations as early as possible can also help to reduce your stress during this time. After all, it means that you’ll have an idea of the guest list early on based on RSVPs. This can make everything from planning the menu to selecting a drinks package a lot easier, as you’ll know how many people you’ll be expected to cater for.

Tip #3:  Put together a wedding planning timeline. Staying organised can also help you to keep stress at bay when planning your big day. For example, you could put together a timeline that details when big decisions need to be made (such as finalising guest lists), dresses fitted and collected, or vendor pay dates can help you to stay on top of everything you need to do during this time.

Tip #4: Let those around you help. Do not fall into the trap of believing that you (and your partner) have to plan the entire wedding yourself, even if you do not quite have the budget for a wedding planner. After all, you’re surrounded by friends and family who would happily play a role in your big day. Whether you’re simply looking to rant or need someone to organise dress fittings, don’t be afraid to reach out and ask for help. This is what your bridal party is for!

Tip #5: Think of the bigger picture. It’s easy to get tied down in the finer details when planning a wedding, especially as you’ll want your day to be as special as possible. However, in doing so, it’s important that you do not lose sight of the bigger picture. Your wedding day is supposed to be fun! So, whenever you feel overwhelmed, take a step back and consider whether or not this stressor will really impact your day or whether it is something that will not really matter in the long run!
