I wrote last week about how I’ve lost my baby weight since having Benjamin. Now down to my goal weight of 9 stone, I am happy with my size but I don’t feel confident with my loose skin.
Over the past few weeks I’ve started to tone up in preparation for our wedding on 2nd September. I’ve been using the Charlotte Crosby 3 Minute Abs DVD to do this (and plan to start combining this with her 3 minute bum blitz).
I’ve been using the DVD once a day, every day for the past three weeks. It generally isn’t advised to exercise seven days a week, but with my wedding dress fitting, I wanted to get a head start on my motivation. I plan to drop down to 3-4 times a week from next week to keep up my fitness prior to flying out to Santorini.
The DVD is definitely working for me. The intervals are just the right length that they are manageable, and I tell myself it won’t be long until the next round. I have grown to love certain rounds more than others, and there are definitely ones I’m not as keen on, although often these are the harder ones that I can feel working!
The DVD also includes a warm up, cool down, and a bonus ab workout. I am awful at doing the cool down, but 9 times out of 10 I’ll push myself to do the extra abs section. I can really feel it working and it motivates me to keep going.
The workout takes around an hour and ten minutes in total (with the warmup and extra abs section), although this does include the time it takes the instructors and Charlotte to talk you through each round. This does get a little annoying when you have done the DVD several times and no longer need to listen to the instructions.
I think this feedback was taken on board for Charlotte’s second DVD (the bum blitz), as that one goes much quicker between sections, without the waiting around. It’s not a huge issue, I tend to use the time to check my phone (social media addict here), or check the kids are ok if I’m exercising when they are at home.
As with all workout DVDs, there are phrases which can become grating after you’ve heard them twenty times, but these also act as benchmarks to spur me on and remind me that it’ll be over before I know it.
The rounds have a mix of exercises, which are all fairly simple to follow, and work different areas to strengthen the core and tone the mid section.
I have definitely started to see a difference. I also feel a lot fitter, and I am more motivated not only to workout, but also to eat well. I am drinking more water, and I’m generally feeling more positive about my body.
If you’re looking for an exercise DVD which gives results, pushes you when you need pushing, and is fast paced and fun (as exercise can be), I would definitely suggest this DVD (and the bum focused sequel).
Always ensure you discuss changes to your workout regime with your doctor. It has been brought to my attention by a local personal trainer that this type of exercise may not be suitable for mothers who have a weak pelvic floor, or whose stomach muscles haven’t repaired fully from labour.
I bought the 3 minute abs and 3 minute bum blitz DVDs myself with my own money but I wanted to share how I’ve been toning up.
