I often see on Facebook wedding groups posts asking for suggestions for wedding music.
I think one of the most important things when making the decision is to consider any songs that have a meaning to you both, as a couple. Maybe you don’t have a ‘couple song’, but there’s bound to be songs that you’ve both listened to together and enjoy. If not, make time and spend an evening together listening to lots of different music to find something which resonates with you both.
Remember, you generally will want to choose a few different songs for key moments throughout the big day, so if you are finding it hard to pick just one, have a think about which would be most suitable for which part.
As a guide, the main ones you may need are as follows:
-Bridal ceremony entrance
-Bride and Groom ceremony exit
You may also want to choose a couple of songs for guests whilst they are waiting for the ceremony to begin, during the signing of the register, music for during the wedding breakfast, and some people also like to choose a last song of the evening for the band or DJ to play.
If you are still finding it hard to choose, there are some brilliant suggestions online. Just google ‘wedding playlist’ or ‘first dance song’. It might also be worth having a look on YouTube at first dance clips as you can get an idea of how easy (or hard) it is to dance to the song you’ve chosen.
Most of all, what’s important to remember is that it’s your wedding day and the songs should be special to you as a couple. Who cares if that means you entering to the Star Wars theme song? Do what makes you happy!
